02How MyRoute works

Crowdshipping, in simple words.

MyRoute is an app for travellers, and for anyone who wants to send a parcel with a person travelling the same route. Have you ever wished you could send something to another city without paying a high delivery fee? Or are you already travelling there with spare space in your bag? That is where crowdshipping comes in.

01The idea

People who are already travelling can carry parcels for people who need to send them.

Instead of relying only on traditional delivery companies, crowdshipping connects senders, travellers and receivers through one platform.

Imagine you live in Jaipur and want to send a small parcel to a friend in Delhi. At the same time, someone is already travelling from Jaipur to Delhi. Instead of that traveller going with empty space in their bag, they carry your parcel along the way. Your parcel gets delivered, and the traveller earns something for helping.

Win-win

“I am already travelling to Delhi. Why not help someone send a parcel there and earn something along the way?”

02Step by step

So, how does crowdshipping work?

Five steps, from the request to the handoff.

Step 01

Someone needs to send a parcel

The sender creates a delivery request. It should be as simple as booking a cab or ordering food.

  • Where the parcel needs to be picked up
  • Where it needs to go
  • What the parcel contains
  • Its size or weight
  • When it needs to be delivered

Step 02

A traveller shares their journey

Someone is already travelling from Jaipur to Delhi. They add the journey and let others know: “I am travelling from Jaipur to Delhi and I have some extra space.” They choose whether they want to carry a parcel at all, and what kind of parcel they are comfortable with.

Step 03

The platform connects them

MyRoute looks for a match between the parcel and the journey. Parcel: Jaipur → Delhi. Traveller: Jaipur → Delhi. If the details line up, the sender and the traveller connect and agree on the delivery.

Step 04

The traveller picks the parcel up

Once it is confirmed, the traveller collects the parcel from the agreed pickup point and carries it during the journey. Identity verification, tracking and proof of pickup all help keep the handover secure.

Step 05

The parcel reaches its destination

The traveller arrives in Delhi and hands the parcel to the receiver. That is it. A journey that was already happening has now moved a parcel from one city to another.

03For travellers

Why would someone become a crowdshipper?

The traveller earns extra money while travelling. They are making the journey anyway, so carrying one more parcel turns unused space into an earning.

The space is already paid forThe ticket is booked and the bag is half empty. A parcel in that space costs the traveller nothing extra.
The traveller stays in controlThey post the route, choose what they will carry, and agree the amount with the sender before anything changes hands.
04For senders

Why would someone use crowdshipping?

For senders, crowdshipping is another way of getting a parcel delivered. Depending on the route, it can offer:

Convenience

Find someone already travelling to your destination, rather than waiting for a network to route your parcel there.

Potentially lower cost

Sharing a journey that is already being made can bring the cost of a delivery down.

Faster delivery

If a traveller is leaving soon, your parcel can arrive without waiting for a conventional delivery cycle.

More flexibility

Crowdshipping can cover routes that do not always fit a fixed delivery schedule.

Post a journey, or post a parcel. Both live in the same app.
